Are you a qualified paralegal who has a minimum of 3 years of experience working in trademarks? Our ideal candidate will bring the expertise to run our trademark paralegal projects while we continue to grow this department.

We are looking for a highly organized candidate with the emotional intelligence to enjoy the work AND the team that is driven to serve. Your ability to admit when you have made a mistake while being willing to learn new process and systems are essential in this position. Day-to-day workflow will swing from filing trademarks, coordinating collection of collateral from clients, and documentation preparation as each project requires.

While you will work directly with the principal attorney, you are expected to take ownership of assigned legal work and projects. Your own drive to meet or exceed deadlines, seeing a project through to completion, and excellent communication skills – both written and verbal – are a must for success.

Proficiency in Spanish is a definite plus though not required.

While our preference is for a paralegal residing in the southern California region to allow for in-person collaboration, we will consider a fully remote position that allows you to work from home. We are happy to offer flexibility in setting up your working schedule to support the work with international brands and be mentored by a leading global trademark attorney.

Use your gifts to coordinate the communications and documentation needed for all phases of trademarking including exhibit assembly, updating docketing systems, filing applications through the online portal, drafting Statements of Use, and more.

Our firm is focused on protecting and educating clients on brand protection through many growing initiatives. Your motivation to learn and help implement new systems and processes combined with a desire and commitment to become part of the practice management and client relations will lead to your success.

Responsibilities include:

• Oversee client intake and onboarding process.
• Assisting counsel with trademark searches, including both preliminary and comprehensive search analysis;
• Electronically filing trademark applications, Statements of Use, maintenance, assignments, renewal declarations, and other documents with U.S. Trademark Office;
• Obtaining information from national trademark databases and other online databases;
• Facilitate collection of samples of use that meet TM regulations for registration
• Filing and maintenance of international trademark applications and registrations, including maintenance of files, reviewing correspondence from foreign counsel and drafting responses to same; gathering and providing foreign counsel with information/documentation necessary to prosecute/maintain trademark applications and registrations. Drafting correspondence with foreign agents involving foreign opposition proceedings, and enforcement;
• Exhibit assembly for TTAB and Federal Court filings
• Updating docketing system and communicating with counsel to update docket;
• Oversee development of systems and processes for client service and workflow
• Assisting counsel to investigate and administer cases of infringement. Gather information on third-party infringers and obtain relevant facts. Assisting with case management of domain dispute UDRP proceedings;
• Assisting counsel with reviewing materials including press releases and marketing materials for proper trademark use;
• Assisting counsel with fielding inquiries from clients regarding various trademark/copyright issues; reporting status of trademark matters to clients.
• Track filing expenses, foreign associate engagements and facilitate special invoicing as requested.
• Meet with principal attorney to evaluate priority and project progress.
• Requirements:
• Trademark work experience – minimum of 3 years
• Excellent communication skills – written and verbal
• Certificate in Paralegal Studies – completed
• Professional experience working within a small business environment
• Strong experience in process and detail collection
• Driven by a personal sense to complete and meet deadlines

Prefer, but not required:

• Spanish language proficiency
• Resides in the southern California area

This full time position is eligible for salary of $55,000 – $65,000 / year  (dependent upon experience). Additional benefits include paid time off and paid holidays.
